Tuesday and Thursday Training Races
Rumor has it that the Tioga Velo Club originally started out as the Tioga Time Trial Club and eventually morphed into the Tioga Velo Club that it is today. As the club grew, so did the diversity of riding styles and skill sets within the ranks of the membership. The riders wanted to do more than time trial. Thus - some road courses and circuit style races were added to the schedule. Some have stayed the course over the years and become club staples, while others have come and gone. The club consistently has a diverse range of challenging courses - some to suit the climbers, the sprinters, the time trialists and for the good over all cyclist.
The club has adopted a policy of swapping evenings for the types of races offered to adopt to various training needs of the membership. The Road Racers and Triathletes who race on the weekend each want a schedule suited to their race calendar. It was decided a few years ago that Road Races and Time Trial scheduling on Tuesday & Thursday would flip flop every year in an effort to keep everyone as happy as could be. One group of riders may like a particular seasons schedule better than the next, but the other group will have thier preferred schedule the following season.
With that little bit of history out of the way, you'll now understand why I can't say that "The Thursday evening time trial courses are this... " and "The Tuesday evening road courses are that... " The following list of courses will therefore simply be prefaced with a TT or RR designation. Refer to the current season calendar / schedule to figure out if a given race or races that you would like to attend is on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
Tioga Velo Club Weekly Races
Note - TVC Events in April & September start at 6:00pm, events in May thru August start at 6:30. Please show up at least 30 minutes before the start time to prepare your equipment, warmup and sign in. Event signup ends 15 minutes prior to the start time.
